Biography

Daughter of dancer Lilly May and engineer James Henry , was born on April 11th 1984, in Los Angeles, California. She spent her childhood living and studying there, but went to London, where her parents were from, for all of her holidays. On her first year of high school, at fifteen, she met and became best friends with Olive Fletcher. At seventeen she met Chris Evans.

When she was almost eighteen, she entered the Los Angeles Music Academy, where, in four years, she got a degree in Vocal Artist Development. While still in college and two years after that, worked in cafes making covers. She started writing some songs of her own, but was usually too self-conscious to perform them live.

In 2008, at the age of twenty-four, she recorded one of her own songs, Kiss Of A Bullet, and because of that signed a contract with A&M Octone Records. Signed along the contract were her friends from college Johnnie Bauder, Simon Jay and Cristoph Dawson, who became her instrumental band, Blue Lightning. Later that year, she was given the opportunity to open a concert for Maroon 5 in New York, since their record company was the same. She performed covers of multiple artists, as well as her own song. Kiss Of A Bullet became her first single, granting her instant success. In November, the video for the song was released and the album release date announced to February 7th of 2009.

Blue Blizzard contained twelve original songs, five of them being singles. By halfway 2009, had already released Kiss Of A Bullet, The Boy Who Murdered Love, The One That Got Away and My Immortal as singles, and kicked off for a national tour. The Blue Blizzard Tour lasted two years, and while in worked on her new compositions.

Midway 2008, was approached by movie director Nathan Greno, who was looking for an artist to voice Rapunzel in Tangled, the new Disney animation. auditioned and got the part, spending about a year in production. She paused her tour in 2010 to promote the movie around the world with co-star Zachary Levi.

Early 2009, while dating Josh Radnor, made a guest appearance on episode 15 of the fourth season of How I Met Your Mother, as Barney's fake wife.

returned home at the end of July 2011, and spent the next eight months finishing off her new album. The singles Wake Me Up and My Wicked Heart came out before the new album, Bright Lights. Now with an international array, The Bright Lights Tour kicked off in July of 2012, in Europe. While in it, Once, Domino and How To Be A Heartbreaker became singles. Before it came back to the U.S, the tour was paused for a couple of months for to focus on her wedding and honeymoon. It then came back in May 2013, in Germany.

On 2012, was invited to join The Great Gatsby Soundtrack, recording the song Over The Love.

Personal Life

When was seventeen, she met the British actor James McAvoy, who was her first boyfriend. They dated for two and a half years, until 2003, before he needed to move back to Scotland. Since neither of them were considerably famous yet, the relationship was never discovered by the press. For about five months in 2004, she dated an architect named Gary Stradford. In the end of 2004, her parents moved back to England and she started living by herself.

In 2005 she met Ryan Dusick, Maroon 5's drummer. They dated for three years, and when they broke up, Ryan had already left the band. For about three months in 2008, had an affair with actor Jensen Ackles, generating some rumors of them dating, but it never became something serious.

In December 2008, met the actor Josh Radnor through her cousin and Josh's co-worker Alyson Hannigan, and they started dating after a couple of weeks. The relationship ended nearly a year later, because they were both too busy and not living in the same city.

In the end of May 2010, met Mike Johnson, a guitarist in an indie punk band. They had a troubled and polemic relationship, gaining much attention from the media. was often photographed drinking or smoking, her and Mike always running from the paparazzi, and she never wanted to give interviews. The relationship ended with a huge fight, when found out he had been cheating on her.

was single for another four months, through the end of her tour. In July 2011, she met Tom Hiddleston, while watching the shooting of The Avengers in New York. A little longer after a year into the relationship they became engaged, marrying on April 6th of 2013.
